Absorb #3: DOI vs. URL flowchart and video

 

This absorb activity addresses the following objectives:

 

• Create a citation for a database article that is properly formatted and includes all necessary components.

• From an article, select the required elements of a citation.

• Using a search engine and/or the website Crossref.org, locate citation components when they are missing.

The flowchart (PDF version) and video serve multiple purposes as an absorb activity as well as a do and connect activity as students use them to learn how to finish these types of citations as well as to correct computer-generated citations and create their own citations. Students can choose whether to use the flowchart, watch the video, or both.
